FAQs

How long have you been in business?

We are a local/family owned coin shop in Lynnwood, WA which opened September 5, 2005. The owner of the shop is a life-long resident of Washington State and has been a full time coin/bullion dealer since 1977. The manager has lived in the Seattle area all his life and has been dealing in coins since 1978. All staff members are either members or Life Members of the American Numismatic Association (ANA) and the Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association (PNNA). We are an Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau earning an A+ rating. We are also members of the NFIB and ITCA. We’ve spent decades dealing in coins…we’d like to deal with you as well!

What do you buy and Sell?

We buy and sell all raw and slabbed collectible coins and currency both U.S. and foreign that command a premium. We have an extensive inventory of U.S. coins graded fairly and priced reasonably. If you’re a serious collector, we invite you to check out our inventory. For local customers only: We also buy and sell gold, silver and platinum bullion and scrap gold, dental gold, silver jewelry and sterling silver flatware and related items. Our prices are fair and competitive and we stock a full range of bullion for immediate delivery. Again, we sell bullion only in the shop…we will not accept orders for nor ship bullion. In addition, we also stock a full line of coin supplies.

Do you always pay the best prices in the area?

Our offers for coins normally meet or beat those of any legitimate coin shops in the area and always beat the prices offered by transient dealers that set up in Senior Centers or hotels who often take advantage of the uninformed or the elderly. You’ll find we offer fair prices and will pay more than anyone for coins and bullion we need.

Important note: if you have a premium coin, we’ll point it out to you and offer you a fair price for it. We won’t take advantage of you and knowingly buy a much better coin at a common coin price. That’s not right and we won’t do it!

Should I clean my coins?

NO, coins should be left in their natural state. Cleaning coins, even with great care often decreases their value.

What is your return policy?

You can return any coin for any reason in original condition within 10 days of the receipt for an immediate refund of the purchase price less any shipping costs. We’d appreciate it if you would let us know by email or phone if you’re returning a coin. Again, no reason is required but it’d be helpful for us to know a coin is coming back. Important: Coin must be in the crystal clear sealed package. Removal of the coin from the clear package voids any return privilege.

What do you accept as payment?

We accept personal checks, cashier’s checks, money orders, bank cards, and PayPal on non-bullion related coins and items. Personal checks, money orders, and cashier’s checks must clear…bank card orders over $500.00 will be shipped when your card is debited and coins will be sent to the card holder’s address only. No exceptions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!

What do you accept as payment on gold and silver bullion?

We accept cash and cashier’s checks on all bullion and bullion related items such as bulk U.S. Silver Dollars, 90% U.S. Pre-1965 Silver Coins and U.S. gold coins.  Personal checks are subject to prior approval.  We accept credit cards on supplies and most numismatic coins and currency but not on bullion or bullion related items.

Is sales tax collected on coins, currency, or bullion?

There is currently no sales tax collected on coins or bullion in the state of Washington. However, sales tax will collected on supplies and currency as required by the state (ask for details regarding sales tax on currency).

How will you pay me when I sell you coins or bullion?

We’ll pay you by check or cash…whichever you prefer and payment will be immediate. In compliance with state law and local requirements, we will not buy from anyone under the age of 18 and valid photo ID, your phone number, and your thumbprint are required on any purchases we make. It’s Washington State Law.

Okay, let’s cut to the chase: What sets your shop apart from others in the area? Why should I deal with you instead of someone else?

We have been in the coin, bullion, and scrap business in the Pacific Northwest for over 38 years. During that time we have served the novice collector to the more advanced collector with one of the largest and most diverse inventories of collectible coins in the area. You will find our prices competitive and our grading conservative. We also stock a wide range of silver and gold bullion items offering a narrow buy/sell spread and immediate deliver (in store only). You will be treated with fairness and honesty second to none by one of the friendliest and most knowledgeable staffs to be found. Check out our page on this web store entitled “testimonials” to see what our customers have to say about us. We strive to be fair in all our dealings and make your visit to our shop or web store a fun experience.

No games or misleading statements!  Just consistently fair prices and excellent service!  That’s what you’ll find at The Coin Market, LLC!
